Geckos

There are three genus of geckos in Socotra: Pristurus, exclusive of the Middle East and the Horn of Africa, Hemidactylus, whose species can be found all over the world, and Haemodracon, a genus endemic of Socotra. Most Hemidactylus and all Pristurus species of Socotra are also endemic.

These are the geckos of Socotra island (NE means Not Endemic):

  • Pristurus sokotranus
  • Pristurus abdelkuri
  • Pristurus guichardi
  • Pristurus obsti
  • Pristurus insignis

  • Hemidactylus flaviviridis (NE)
  • Hemidactylus robustus (NE)
  • Hemidactylus dracaenacolus
  • Hemidactylus granti
  • Hemidactylus homoeolepis (NE)
  • Hemidactylus inintellectus
  • Hemidactylus pumilio
  • Haemodracon riebeckii
  • Haemodracon trachyrhinus
