Creatures of habit

The Eurasian dotterel (Charadrius morinellus) is a creature of habit. Every year these birds cross Europe, flying from the tundra to North Africa, with frequent stop-overs along their way. They reach eastern Alps at the end of summer, usually within the very same weeks year after year, and always landing in the very same meadows.

They bring the autumn, and after a few days of recharging and bugs hunting, they move on southwards, leaving the mountains chilly and silent.
